Bullying

The FDP was started at 4 Pm. The topic ‘Bullying’ was selected by me and approved by Principal ma’am as it is more prevalent in colleges, institutions and teachers play important role in prevention of bullying so the topic has its important for the group. I started my presentation with thought provoking questions. The content of the presentation includes detail description about bullying, acts of bullying, common effects of bullying, reporting of bullying incident, strategies to deal with bully and guidelines for teachers. I have also discussed about current incidences and numbers on bullying. I have also thrown some light on research facts and findings and also mentioned my research finding which I have done in 2014 on bullying among school children’s. I has been published in Journal of Psychiatry Nursing 2014; 3(3): 77-116. Bullying and role of teachers in dealing with bullying at school/college premises has been shown with the help of role play in which teachers participated actively. Discussion” as method of teaching

The FDP was started at 4:05 Pm. The selected topic was “Discussion” as method of teaching. The content of the presentation included :- Introduction of discussion method Goals of discussion Use of discussion as method of teaching Role of teacher Discussion on topic “Zika Virus” Case study Feedback She has divided the faculty members into three different groups & divided 3 different topics among them for discussion. Before the discussion started she has played a documentary clip on Zika Virus. Thereafter, the groups discussed about the topics i.e introduction, causes, epidemiology, symptoms, diagnosis, prevention & treatment of zika virus. Approaches to joint pain in children

The FDP was started at 9.10am. The topic ‘Approaches to joint pain in children” was selected by Mrs. Rekha. B and approved by Principal. We all know joint pain occurs in later stage of age only but it can occur in all age groups starts from infants if we ignore it, it will lead in future health problems. The content of the presentation included introduction, terminologies, duration of symptoms, number of joints involved, and pattern of joint involvement, enthesitis, suspecting arthritis in young children, history and examination. After this demonstration on assessment of child done with the support of Ms. Kavita & concluded the topic. At the end of the FDP colleagues & B.Sc. Health Economics

The FDP was started at 12 noon. The topic ‘Health economics” was selected for the presentation and was approved by Principal. Even though the concept of health economics is much needed in Nursing, its application is very much lacking in nursing practice and administration. As it is timely needy one the orientation was given with relevant present scenario examples. The content of the presentation included definition of economics & health economics purposes, components, factors influencing health economics, different types of evaluation in analysis of health care including cost–benefit analysis, cost effectiveness analysis, cost utility analysis and cost minimization analysis. At the end research articles on cost effectiveness analysis were presented by Mrs. Rose Mary, Asst.Professor, ACN. After presentation, the topic was put into open discussion with principal & other colleagues. At the end of the FDP principal and other colleagues gave their comments about the presentation and Mr.Chithravel.V thanked all the colleagues for their valuable comments and active participation.  ..

Self Directed Learning

  Date: 16th Mar 2015 The topic ‘self-directed learning (SDL) was selected by Mr. Libin Joseph and approved by Principal madam as it is more important in Nursing institutions and it is important to enhance self-directed learning program like flipped class room which is conducted in Akal College of Nursing, so the topic has its importance for the group. The FDP was started at 4 Pm. The content of the presentation included Concepts of self-directed learning (SDL), Definition of self-directed learning, Characteristics of self-directed learning, Goals of self-directed learning, Key components of self-directed learning, Concepts of self-directed learning, Advantages of self-directed learning, Limitations of self-directed learning, Disadvantages of self-directed learning, and Implications of self-directed learning.
