9th Annual Day

The Akal College of Nursing, Eternal University conducted its 4th Annual Florence Nightingale inter-collegiate quiz competition in the campus auditorium on 06th June 2016.

Honorable Shrimati. Rani Pratibha Singh presided the occasion as the Chief Guest who showered blessings and expressed happiness for way the college has uplifted the standards of nursing education. The beginning of the auspicious occasion was marked by the invocation Shabad by the students of Akal College of Divine Music.

The Celebrations commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting by His Holiness Dr. Iqbal Singhji, Founder, Kalgidhar Trust, Honourable Shrimati.Rani PratibhaSingh, Shri.Gangu Ram Musafir, Deputy Chairman, Planning Board, Dr.S.SKaushal, Director of Medical Education & Research, Shrimati.Kaushalya Chaudhry, Registrar, Himachal Pradesh Nurses Registration Council, Dr.Davinder Singh, Secretary, Kalgidhar Trust Dr Neelam Kaur, Dean, Faculty of Health and allied Sciences and Mrs.Ranjit Kour, Principal, Akal College of Nursing.

Dr.Davinder Singh, Secretary, Kalgidhar Trust delivered welcome address in honour of the chief guest, guest of honour and other dignitaries. The Chief Guest, in her inaugural address to the gathering appreciated the management, staff and the students of the college for their contribution to the nursing service which are very vital for the development of remote, hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh to promote the health care services and education. She added that education should emphasize on values and quality, rather than on the degree acquired by the individual.


Dr.B.S.Sohal, Dean P.G Studies Eternal University & Mr. H.S. Chauhan, Dean, School of public Health, Eternal University, opened the 4thAnnual Florence Nightingale inter-collegiate quiz competition in which the students from 13 nursing colleges of various states including Jammu &Kashmir,Punjab,Delhi,Haryana &Himachal Pradesh participated.

Shri. Gangu Ram Musafir, Deputy Chairman, Planning Board appreciated the efforts and achievements of the Kalgidhar trust in field of education.Dr.S S Kaushal, Director of Medical Education & Research delivered his speech on the importance of nursing services in remote areas and the significant contribution of The Kalgidhar Trust institutions in education and women empowerment.

His Holiness Honorable Dr. Iqbal Singhji, Founder, Kalgidhar Trust presented a memento to the Chief guest. Dr Neelam Kaur, Dean Faculty of Health and Allied Sciences presented the Annual Report highlighting the achievements of the college and goals set up for the future.

The formal oath taking ceremony was undertaken by the students of 1st year BSc.Nursing. Students took the International Nurses Pledge administered by Shrimati. Kaushalya Chaudhry, Registrar, HPNRC, Shimla & Mrs. Ranjit Kour Principal , Akal College of Nursing. By taking oath and nurse’s pledge, students were formally inducted into the noble profession of nursing, committing themselves touphold the standards and values of the profession, such as integrity, honesty, respectfulness and accountability. The cultural presentation of the choreography on “disability is the state of mind’’ and “vision of India; 2020” by Akal College of Nursing students were deeply appreciated bythe audience. The Chief Guest distributed the prizes to the meritorious students for both curricular and extra-curricular achievements andalso congratulated the students and applauded their efforts. The students who won the prizes in Florence Nightingale Quiz Competition were awarded with cash prize of Rs.25, 000 , Rs.15, 000 and Rs.10, 000 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

The programme was intellectually and spiritually stimulating with an amalgamation of various hues and spread the colors of peace and happiness. Dr. Ajit Singh, Additional Registrar, Eternal University proposed a vote of thanks.
